Jaga Papua | Media Penyambung Aspirasi Rakyat

MANOKWARI, JAGAPAPUA.COM - Sekelompok warga Kampung Mokwam, Distrik Warmare, Kabupaten Manokwari, Papua Barat menghentikan rombongan Pangdam XVIII/Kasuari Mayjen TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa saat dalam perjalanan Touring Merah Putih ke Pegunungan Arfak (Pegaf) pada Sabtu (14/8).

Warga menyampaikan hendak meminta bendera kepada Pangdam Kasuari karena berencana mengibarkan Bendera Merah Putih untuk memperingati HUT RI ke-76, akan tetapi tidak memiliki bendera. Salah seorang warga mengatakan ingin memperingati HUT RI dengan mengikatkan bendera Merah Putih pada sebuah pohon pisang raksasa yang merupakan flora endemik yang ada di Kampung Mokwam.

“Bapak kita mau minta bendera, karena sudah dekat 17 Agustus tapi kita belum dapat bendera merah putih. Kami akan ikat di pohon pisang raksasa, sehingga kami berharap pisang bisa terkenal di Indonesia,” ungkap seorang warga seperti dilansir dari keterangan tertulis, Jakarta (18/8).

Warga kemudian diberikan bendera Merah Putih dan segera memanjat salah satu pohon pisang raksasa di pinggir hutan dan mengibarkan bendera Merah Putih di ujung phon tersebut. Warga kemudian melakukan penghormatan terhadap bendera Merah Putih yang telah ditancapkan.

Pandam Kasuari kemudian memberikan pesan kepada warga untuk menjaga bendera Merah Putih dan mengenang jasa para leluhur di Tanah Papua yang telah berjuang dengan sepenuh jiwa dan raga. Pangdam berpesan untuk selalu menjaga NKRI meskipun warga berada di kampung dan di hutan.

“Bapak ini ada bendera, nanti dipasang. Kita punya tanah ini harus dijaga, kita punya orang tua, leluhur, pejuang, pahlawan dari tanah Papua ini banyak, ada Marthen Indey, Frans Kaisiepo, Abraham Johanes Dimara dan lain sebagainya mengorbankan diri mereka untuk bendera ini,” ujar Pangdam. (UWR)
