JAKARTA, JAGAPAPUA.COM – Papua Special Committee DPD RI held a meeting with two companies and the government. The hearing was held at the Parliament complex, (02/12/2020). The meeting involving the Ministry of Manpower, British Petroleum Indonesia, and the Law Office of HAM-Lukataru, finally, produced several conclusions, after going through a long process. Here are some of these important points;
1. Papua Special Committee DPD RI asks the Ministry of Manpower to facilitate and supervise labor issues, both termination of employment (PHK), as well as strikes that occur at PT Freeport Indonesia, by promoting the principle of justice in accordance with the legislation mechanism.
2. Papua Special Committee of DPD RI asked PT Freeport Indonesia and British Petrolum Indonesia to allocate CSR funds to the company on target with the priority to improve the lives of indigenous Papuans through education, health and empowerment programs.
3. Papua Special Committee DPD RI asks Freeport Indonesia and BP Indonesia that the recruitment process of Freeport workers must prioritize indigenous Papuans.
4. Papua Special Committee DPD RI requested, PT Freeport Indonesia and BP Indonesia to pay attention and involve indigenous peoples as a form of respect for the rights of indigenous peoples in carrying out natural resource management activities in the land of Papua.
5. The Special Committee encouraged PT. Freeport Indonesia and BP Indonesia Blueprint economic and social development policies for indigenous Papuans in Papua.
6. Papua Special Committee DPD RI will conduct oversight of investment policies, especially in managing natural resources and development in the land of Papua. (JP/RS)
